Putaruru Golf Club Report for Insertion in the South Waikato News Wednesday 2 November 2005.

Closing Day
Spectacularly and fabulously successful is how you would have to describe our closing day.  Ambrose is a format that, every once in a while, is diabolically good fun.  The boo hoo award goes to the team of Ross Jellard, John Mulholland, Tony Edgar and Roger Clothier.  They shot 63, 9 pars and 9 birdies and came last in the prizes because their nett was a paltry 47.  Winning the menís division was the team of Neville Dugan, Anthony Berben, Paul Graham and Lindsay Siegel with a nett 45.  Second on count back was Andrew and Adam Sadler, Tommy Houston and Doug Worth on 46, from Colin Emslie, Brett and Greg Worth and Wayne Mudford.

Now the Pritchard cup was up for grabs in the mixed teams division, and the scoring was unyielding tight.  The 2005 winning team was Hooky and Heather Howard, Keith Hunt and Camille McAllister with a nett 44.  Second on count back (by half a stroke) was John and Audrey Mathis, Tony Muller and Norine McPherson, third with 48 was Tony Fitzherbert, Betty Swanson, Stew and Anne Kensington, 4th on count back was Ted and Rosemary Ward, Les and Barbara Pratt.

Grayburn Ross Twilight
This starts up in earnest on Thursday, and the competition will be tight.  Team entry costs this year are $80.  There will be an individual scramble for those not in teams, and a ladies division.  It is a fun night, but Iím afraid it will probably be raining this week, because it was stunningly fine last Thursday when the course was closed!

Ladies and Vets Report
With the 2005 AGM starting at 1.30.pm, only a 9 hole scramble was played last Tuesday.  The best scores returned were Brenda Buckeridge 24 points, Anne Kensington 20, Alison Riley 19, Denise Hunt and Norine McPherson 18.

The 9 holerís results were Sue Urbahn 18, Mairi Edmonds 17 and Elizabeth Howland 14.

The Connie Tulloch Pitch and Putt Trophy that is traditionally played on the day was won by Dulcie McLean after a number of playoffs.

The Annual General Meeting was very well attended, with not a lot of general business to be discussed.  Officers for the 2006 season are, President Cheryl Jones, Captain Denise Hunt, Secretary Rachel Young, Handicapper Jenny Smith, Assistant Raewyne Hoole, Tournament Secretary Brenda Buckeridge, Saturday Convenor Jeanette Burton, 9 hole convenor Anne Kensington.

Committee, Irene McIvor, Elayne O'Leary, Heather Edgar, Sue Urbahn.

After the meeting closed, the seasonís trophies were presented.

A new mid-week Christmas Tournament for ladies has been scheduled for Wed 9th November.  We welcome all handicap players and there will also be a 9 hole division.
