Putaruru Golf Club Report for Insertion in the South Waikato News Wednesday 26 September 2006.

Men's Report
The Putaruru Super Liquor midweek was played last Thursday, with Florence Jellard winning the ladies nett, Ted Ward firing a nett 64 to win division 1, and Andrew Sadler winning division 2 with a nett 65.

The stableford winners were Bronwyn Verner 36 points, in division 1, Ross Jellard 41 points on count back from John Barr, and in division 2, Hooky Howard 41, 2nd Dieter Drescher 37.

In the weekends matches of the club champs, the only senior match played saw John Anderson beat Rhys Burnett 3/1.

In the intermediates; Ross Jellard beat John Mulholland 1 up, Allan Wallace beat John Barr 6/4 (a spanking,) and Ron Taylor beat Phil Kensington 1 up and Richard Wharehoka won against Butch Hamilton on the 21st.

In the Juniors, Daley Makene beat Lindsay Siegel, Wayne Mudford beat Brett Makene, Jahrome Brown beat Shayne Hill, and David Hoyte beat Dieter Drescher.

The scramble results saw Butch Hamilton with 43 points, Allan Wallace and Maurice Tricker 41, Richard Wharehoka 40, Ron Taylor 38 and Mark Nichol 37.

The division 2 winner was Doug Worth 44, Wayne Mudford and Jahrome Brown 43, Brad Gallagher and David Hoyte 40, and Hooky Howard 39.

Ladies Report
23 eighteen holers and 10 nine holers played a par bogey scramble last Tuesday.  Weather was reasonable with only one heavy shower that lasted for 10 minutes.  The course is playing very well.

Results are as follows, 0-30 division Lyn Darroch +2 on count back from Michelle Thorby followed by Cheryl Jones -1 on count back from Jenny Smith.  31-54 division, Jenny Clothier and Joan Spargo both had +2, Marie Way was all square and Bev Macartney -1.  In the 9 holers Gillian Robbins was +1, Dulcie McLean, Lynette Bennett and Dorothy Bartlett were all -2.

An invitation is extended to any ladies who are interested in learning to play golf.  Introductory sessions will be held on the 9th and 16th of October at the golf course, starting at 10 am.  If you are interested in having gentle exercise, fresh air, fun and social contact with other ladies, please contact Denise Hunt (883 3273 or 021 287 8606) or Jenny Clothier (883 8207).
