Putaruru Golf Club Report for Insertion in the South Waikato News Wednesday 31 October 2006.

Men's Report
Saturday saw the season end on a low, low in terms on scoring, a high in terms of the field of 50 plus, a high because it was closing day followed by the seasons prize giving.

The Pritchard Cup was up for grabs in a mixed team Ambrose format.  The winning team was Ted and Rosemary Ward and Stew and Anne Kensington scoring a nett 45, followed by Hooky and Heather Howard and Camille McAllister and Keith Hunt on 46.5.  Tony FitzHerbert, Norine McPherson, John and Audrey Mathis were 3rd with 47, and Massey Rata, Marie Way, Ron and Fern Taylor scored a nett 48.

In the men's scramble, Daley Rata-Makene was first with 43 points, Gary Urbahn 42, George Dixon 41, Richie Brown 40, Maurice Tricker 39, Phil Kensington, Ross Jellard and John Anderson 38.

It’s started, this circus we call twilight, and the scoring freak show is again upon us from the golfers this time.  Shayne Hill shot a 38 for 27 points to win the golfer section, Jahrome Brown 22, Neil Rist, Mark Nicholl and Daley Rata-Makene on 20.

The non golfers were must better behaved with Kevin Duthie 1st with 21, Joe Davies, Jeremy Jacobson and Marcus McGarvey on 20.

So to this week, the team’s competition starts from the 1st of November for 7 weeks.  The team entry fee is $60, teams of 4 or 5 with 3 scores to count of the night.

Ladies Report
From Tuesday the 23rd, Irene McIvor won the Connie Tullock Approach and Putt with 4 shots.

Results from the days scramble were – 18 hole members 1-9; 1st Bev Macartney with 19 stableford followed by Audrey Mathis 17 and Maureen Shanly 16;  10-18, 1st Joy Aitchison, 18 on count back from Shirley Wood, 3rd Vere Hamilton 15.

9 hole ladies 1-9; 1st Sue Urbahn 17, 2nd Joy McDonnell 16, 3rd Mairi Edmonds 15; and 10-18, 1st Cecily Duxfield 18, 2nd Gillian Robbins followed by Carole Furlong on 16.

Coming up …
Thursday has Vets, followed by Twilight.  And on Saturday we have the Tokoroa New World sponsored Christmas Open, a start sheet is up in the club rooms … Good luck and good golfing!
